Angel of Stone
Angel of Stone
ANGEL OF STONE
by Jenny Wren
The angel of stone stands upon the ground.
A bewildered cardinal sits staring down
At a little white angel who stands staring up
At the bird on the wire, now all puffed up.
Frozen in still-motion, both angel and bird.
Then, soft chirping on the breeze is heard
Two questioning eyes roam o'er the other.
Acceptance comes down to its brother.
Now standing so still, so white and stiff,
The angel is new. It was a birthday gift
from a loved one who lived in its place,
Stands in the yard with such a solemn face.
By the flower-bed, with white haloed head
It faces East where Jesus said,
"I shall be returning in the by and by."
So He keeps his eyes on the Eastern sky.
Its hands are held in a prayerful state
Watching clouds and sky both early and late,
His face seems frozen in pure admiration
As if still amazed at GOD'S great creation.
This little white angel, it's made of stone
Given and received not as a headstone,
But as a child's gift while I can yet see.
Yes, my angel's enjoyed right-now, by me!
(Dear Lord,
I thank you for the gift of love given to me by my daughter, Louise. The little angel is a constant reminder as she sits in the yard, ever alert, waiting for the bridegroom to appear. Thank you for blessings of watching the critters in the woodland, coming near and eating in full view in the backyard. Such pleasure is not to be found just anywhere today. This peaceful surrounding with its little birdies and animals all around, stay near and protect all. In Jesus’s name, Amen.)

1 Corinthian 13: 13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
Being Blessed
Has God ever blessed you, and you knew those around you felt the blessing also? God’s blessings runneth over.
Do you remember when Jacob stayed with his Uncle Laban because he was afraid to go home? His brother Esau had sworn to kill Jacob because he had sneakily stolen Jacob’s birthright. But Jacob was blessed by God, and when he got to the safety of Laban’s place, he found that his uncle had been doubly blessed because of his blessing. The blessings poured over Laban from God for the 14 years Jacob worked for him, for the two daughters Jacob wed, and for the great start of herds. Jacob became wealthy and so did his uncle, all from the hard work of Jacob.
Do you remember the deal with the spotted animals, and the branch of the tree in the water that caused the spots on the babies of the animals? These spotted animals then were given to Jacob from the herd of his father-in-law. What this meant was that Laban was blessed, although he was not a believer himself of God, and in addition, Jacob was blessed and all around him were blessed,
Seems the blessings of God are like rain water. They fall upon whoever is under or near the place. All get the blessing and all get the benefits of the falling rain. God was indeed blessing Jacob, and Laban was in the downpour.
Just look at how the disciples were blessed because they chose to work as servants of Jesus and the people. Although they paid with their lives, just look at the blessings they witnessed and then spread to others. The Lord did not say the Christian life would ever be easy. He did promise eternal live with Him. What more reward for a lifetime of service could ever be given? Remember, it was Peter who was the first to recognize Jesus for who he truly was, the salvation of the world, the master, the savior of all mankind, Lord of all.
If we have more blessings than we can use, and we shall, Then we can use them. We can bless automatically all the others who are around us. We shall not do this alone, but God shall do this. God is in your life and in others’ lives. People will be drawn to Christians, the followers of God, either to be lifted up or dragged down. You can feel God in your life and in others’ lives.
As God blesses others through you, in the overflowing love poured out upon you, this shall humble you...making you see your unworthiness. Have you also noticed that the more you use the gifts that God gives you, the more gifts he will give you to use, again and again? He will bless them all and bless all who are near you as you use the gifts.
This is what blessings are to me, what are they to you?" I have discovered long ago it does not matter how people treat you, you treat them as Jesus treats you and eventually they will come around.
Let's face it. The children of God are feared by some, misread and misunderstood as brazen by others. Some think you are simply off your rocker, but it matters not. Even Jesus was not remembered for his kowtowing to others, he was remembered for giving of himself for all mankind.
Old age will make you see. Your gifts are to be shared regardless of how you are treated. Do the best you can for the God who created you. You are important. You are unique, a 'one-of-a-kind,' and God has “a mission” for you. Your work shall be blessed.
Do not try to please people, ever. Please God and God alone. His saving Blood cleanses
and his living water within shall flow from the fount deep within when he takes his rightful place on the throne of your heart. He lives within.
