A Safe Shelter

by Jenny Wren

A strong storm-cellar has been built by their men
To protect both their wives and take care for them
When comes the High-winds, to the cellar they go
Feeling ever so safe in their deep pit down below

Both husbands then died after many long years
These wives move in together to keep away fears
Of their two homes the brick, is the one they kept
While living together they to each other adept

Now the sisters grow old, they're feeble and such
They stay right at home hardly going out much
They both are Christians, they never miss church
Helping their neighbors if one's caught in a lurch

A Tornado is coming and their home's in the path
Throwing houses all about in its swirling wrath
Sisters watching the news decide to leave home
Going out to the old cellar, now hurrying along

Tightly closing the cover they both knelt to pray
That's how they were found that very same day
The storm had torn away that rotted old cover
Exposed now to elements clinging they hover

The sturdy brick house stood, strong as before
Safety was abandoned as they shut the door
Two bodies were found as they hover together
Their hands being clasped a tornado to weather

Two little old ladies holding hands they arise
In spiritual surrender, to death from the skies
Their bodies drowned as they hover together
Four hands clasped for this storm to weather

Seems Master Death's determined to succeed
Lured from their safety, human nature to heed
When people's time comes for that one to die
There is nowhere to hide, give up, do not try

Your days are numbered til' living is through
Before you were born, they are allotted to you
Why, He's numbered the hairs on your head
As He's numbered the days until you're dead

See? God's in control of all things, you and me
If You do not know this, you simply can't see
But it's not your fault for you being that blind
God has not chosen to enlighten your mind.

Feel that gentle knock upon your heart’s door…
That is God calling, now, like He oft' has, before
God Loves you, you know, ask Him to "come in"
He'll guard your soul, plus, free you from sin....

For all those things hath mine hand made, '
and all those things have been, saith the LORD:
but to this man will I look, even to him that is
poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth
at my word. Isaiah 66:2

<><><><><><><>
1-The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
(I do not ever even think of following a stranger, because I know in my 'knower'.....that he is my Heavenly Father and love.)
2-He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
(he feeds and takes care of me....he knows when it is time to work and when it isn't.)
He leadeth me beside the still waters. He also knows that sheep will not drink if waters are running; it scared them so the shepherd would find a place where the waters had collected in the stream, in a cove of sorts and seems the waters sat still, but the undertow was still there,

(He keeps a peaceful existence about me, and I treasure him)

3-He restoreth my soul:

(When I start to doubt, he reassures me and props me up until I get my bearing )

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
(he keeps me living right and following after him even on new trails I trust in him all of the time) because I know he goes before me to test the strength of the trail and to make sure there are no high cliffs or other dead falls, to harm me,
--------------
4-Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

(He has been with me through many dark valleys and still we are alive and doing pretty good)
I have lived by him through many dark times in my lifetime and he has always seen me through.-------------
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
(he lives with me daily and so I have no fear, even if I die I just go on home with him.) I know he has the needed supplies he carries along with him. The staff can pull me out of a hole should I fall and the rod can hurt when a chastisement if given from him to me when I stray away from him. He draws me back in line. I thank him later, but it hurts at the time of happening, making an imprint upon me.

-----------------
5-Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
(he shows me lessons in everyday happenings. I have learned even from my enemies, Lord is forever blessing me and I just pass them along to others. Some are appreciated, some are not.

He blesses and loves me continuously.)
---------------

6-Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:

(he has been with me since birth and I totally trust him. He is my Lord and savior and I love and serve him faithfully because of that love. I know he is a trustworthy Lord to follow.)

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
(I have never wanted to venture off for any other god. To me there is but one and he is God of Gods, and lord of Lords, my king of kings and my heavenly Father.)
amen----amen
yes forever....

Eternal

Eternity is a thing promised to the children of God, I am believing you Lord and I will live with you forever and where you are I shall be.
That will be the end of this matter, such an ending to a wonderful dream that sometimes turned nightmare on me. Let me stick with you. Yes, let me Lord - may I never go astray. If I do you Lord, come for me in Jesus name. I pray, amen.
