John the Baptist
By a Jenny wren
His name is John the Baptist
He is an instrument of the Lord
He is to tell of a coming savior
As God has promised in his word
John is to tell all the nations
Of the promises God has made
How He'd send to us a Redeemer
Sin's ransom, it has to be paid
"I John only baptize with water
There comes one mightier than I
Whom I know that I am unworthy
My Lord's shoe laces to untie"
He'll baptize in the Holy Spirit
His children with His Holy fire
Purging them unto His salvation
Into a oneness of God's desire
One day as John stood preaching
Standing in the Jordan so wide
Suddenly Jesus stood before Him
Jesus was wanting to be baptized
Humble John forbade his master
He said "I need baptism by You."
But Jesus then reassured John
"This will make fulfillment true."
John the Baptist lowers Jesus
Into the wide Jordan. that day
He knew that this is God's Son
When Jesus came up straightway
The Heavens opened wide
John saw the Spirit of the Lord
Like a dove alighting on Jesus
Suddenly God's blessings poured
“This is my own beloved son."
Came a voice from heaven above
It then spoke "I am well pleased.
I sent Him to you, with my love."
John the Baptist had foretold
Of this savior coming to earth
Our humble John must have felt
Blessed as an instrument ere' birth
Like the example of how to live?
God showed it to us... that day.
Jesus is the real-treasured-gift
But not until you give him away
You become an instrument for God
His job your will, is God to obey
Being now led by His holy spirit
In helping to pave another's way
Are you my child, a willing worker
Are you now harvesting in God's field
Say, do you gather in the lost sinners
Is, yours to be a bountiful yield?
When your life ends at God's call
When your eternity has just begun
Being placed over many things,
Will God say... "Child, well done?"

Luke 1:13
But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.

Encounter with the Lord,
The old man has an encounter with God, and is wooed over with the greatest love ever known to mankind. Such love he cannot resist, when God calls you for his own.
The word so fills your heart and life that you worry people with trying to tell them of the Lord, as you try to prophesy to them how good and how they have this sure and true - they need the Lord, to be complete,
John the Baptist’s old self represents John who was beheaded, and was killed out indeed. John had grown less just as self grows less while Jesus grows up more and more within us.
Jesus, who starts out as an infant inside of us, has to be nourished in order to grow. He will take us through all of the stages of growing, from head start to graduation, and even to highest education in him, that we wish to try and go.
We can learn to swim about in his lake of power, dispensing the gifts of love, channeled through us, to all of those who will listen, knowing they search for something as God is trying to show them what it is they search for.
The old self has to be killed out, slowly ever so slowly, and replaced by the teachings of the holy spirit of God within, before the new can be accepted. Self is a mixture of good and evil and self is determined and is so set on keeping its throne in your heart.
When Jesus died on the cross, the way was made totally back to God. Jesus knocks patiently on your heart’s door and if and when you open up to him as you hear his call, he will enter through that opening.
Jesus moves into your heart where he can now take his throne. You have been bought with a great price; your body on earth is a part of his footstool. John 3;16
Today, until then, our God comes inside of us to live and frees us of the evil one who has been living within every child since the very beginning of time. We are born with good and evil inside of us, inherited from Adam and Eve.....
Precious Father,
I come again thanking you Heavenly Father for all of the blessings in my life. I am thanking you in a special way in doing these little devotions for you to leave for my family and whosoever may stop and read them. I praise you Lord for being Lord of my life, in Jesus name amen.
