Our Sunday school topic for today focuses on prayer, which is your communication with God.

  1. Ask the students - how can you talk to God?
  2. Ask the students - is prayer a recitation of memorized stuff, or is it like a conversation with a friend?
  3. Describe a proud and callous person. Ask:  Why is it important to pray?
  4. Describe the humble person. Ask: Is prayer a private communication, or would you like other people to see that you are praying?
  5. What does the Bible say?
  6. Describe the joy and personal reward of humble dedication - the indwelling Christ
  7. Challenge students to serve others in humility this week

Luke 18:10-13 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
