Wisdom Lessons

Ours is a world abundant in education and learning yet we seem to be lacking true wisdom.  We have so many people thirsting for higher learning but never being wise.  GOD wants us to be a wise people.  He has invited to us to ask HIM for wisdom which only comes from HIM.  It is up to us to make the choice to seek it.  I want Wisdom, I want to gain more of it every day that I live and breathe.  GOD has taught me that true Wisdom is the knowledge of HIM and obedience to HIS word.  I pray that you too will be wise and live your life for the One who is worthy!  GOD Bless You All. : )

James 1:5 “If any of you lack Wisdom, let him ask of GOD, that gives to all liberally, without reproach, and it will be given him.”

Handout:  Wisdom Lessons

My dad says it all the time when he’s preaching.  Salvation is a free gift of GOD for the believer, but victory costs something.  We are saved by the amazing free gift of GOD’S Amazing Grace; The Bible tells us that in the book of Ephesians.

Ephesians 2:8 “For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of GOD.”

Living a life of victory, costs dying to this fleshly nature and we are taught this in Romans chapter 8.

Romans 8:12-13 “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”

In understanding that when we get saved, our work has just begun, a life following Christ and dying to self by choosing to obey GOD and not our flesh, that is wisdom!  Now, what are some ways that we can do that?  What are some ways that we can walk according to the spirit and not of the flesh.  There are many things that we must do in order to live wisely, such as reading and studying GOD’S Word everyday, meditation up on HIM, and having a daily prayer life.  Those things are wise and they keep us strong spiritually so that we can live victorious lives in Christ.  There are a few other ways that work together with the ones I just mentioned that GOD has brought to my heart this week.  This brings us to our first point of this lesson…

Lesson 1.  Delight yourself in The LORD!

Psalm 37:3-5 “Trust in The LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Delight thyself also in The LORD; and HE shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto The LORD; trust also in HIM and HE shall bring it to pass.”

Delight it means to take pleasure in; to rapture in; to have great joy in the LORD.  I believe that goes along with Matthew 6.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the Kingdom of GOD, and HIS righteousness; and all these things will be added to you.”

When we delight in GOD, HE delights in us!  Are you excited about JESUS?  Are you truly in love with HIM?  Just the thought of the possibility of Him being delighted in me, that’s amazing and exciting to my heart.  The Holy Spirit showed me something one morning this week.  I’ll explain.

One morning before my 9 year old son Nate woke up, I had gotten a phone call from a dear lady who was needing someone to talk to and when the little guy woke up I was still on the phone and he quietly got dressed, made up his bed, and got his Bible and read and then had his prayer time.  I was so proud of him for following the regular schedule on his own without having to be told.  See for years, I have been teaching him to do this every morning faithfully, because I want it to become part of his daily life, I have been teaching him that time with GOD comes before anything else in the day with the goal of it becoming second nature to him and this morning, he showed me that it has.  He did it without being told to do it and I wanted to, I was COMPELLED TO reward him. I couldn't help myself...I desired to bless him extra!

Of course I gave him a big hug and told him what a good little boy he is and I told him how proud I am of him and then I gave him a little toy that I had bought for him and was saving it for his stocking at Christmas time.  I wanted to give it to him early...it delighted me to do so...he was so happy. Now every single day, I love to do good things for him and every single day I hug him many times and tell him how much he is loved and how proud I am of him, but today I delighted in giving him an extra reward.  The Christmas toy, early, that is when The HOLY SPIRIT spoke to my heart.  He said,

This is how I feel when you go and live your life the way I have instructed you to do because of your love for Me not because I've had to make you. When you do My will living in obedience, it pleases me and I am so proud of you that I delight in rewarding you! Sometimes, I have things for you...put away for another time...just as you had put that toy away for Christmas for Nate and because of his acts of responsibility and obedience you were compelled to give it to him early...Sometimes I have blessing for you, and when you are responsible and obey me...I delight in blessing you with it more quickly than expected!

My heart was blessed so very much at this. I'm so thankful for my Heavenly Father.  I’m so grateful that HE teaches me how to live and what to be because of HIS great Love for me and because HE knows what's best and HE wants a happy life for me.  When I obey HIM I am at peace and HE delights in rewarding me and blessing me and answering my prayers.  Let me add Dear One, HE feels the exact same way about you! If you delight yourself in The LORD through praise and obedience, He will delight Himself with you. He loves us so much and He is The Best Father. I love Him so.  He is so good. : )

Lesson 2.  It’s all about JESUS

Reading the book of Ecclesiastes again this week and I just wept.  This book always does that to me. Solomon was so wise and he understood that this life is only temporary and without The LORD it's meaningless. He had everything his heart desired, all riches, pleasure, wisdom, and still...it was all meaningless.

We get one chance on this earth right after we are born...make it count...everything we do purely for self and this flesh...will perish...but everything we do in honor of GOD will NEVER die...it will go on for eternity. That's why JESUS said...

Matthew 6:19-21 “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Luke 10:27 “Love the LORD your GOD with all your hear, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.”

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Where is your treasure?  Are you putting GOD first in your life?  When you place HIM first, then you don’t have to worry about ANYTHING else.  Everything else will fall into place.  No, life will not be easy or perfect and bad things happen in this world, but putting GOD first ensures that it will all work out for your good and HIS glory.  It’s hard to this flesh to just let go and let GOD but it’s the wise thing to do in EVERY situation….to just wait upon HIM and then obey when HE says move.

We will NEVER regret a mile we travel for The LORD, we will never regret anything we do for HIM...Eternity is coming...and I want so much to stand before HIM and hear HIM say well done.

Lesson 3:  Never give up, keep moving forward

Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the High calling of GOD in CHRIST JESUS.”

Hugging Nate one morning this week...he said, "Mama, I don't think I could live without you"...I thought back about a year and six months ago sitting by my own mother's bedside, knowing she wouldn't be here much longer, and saying to her, "Mama what will I do without you?" She said, "You will go on, and you will be a wife and a mom and you will serve The LORD." I miss her so much, and the hurt is still the
re, but she was right...life goes on.   I remember in the days after she went Home to be with The LORD…I would just lie in bed and cry, I was so heartbroken and full of grief I didn’t want to get out of bed.  I felt like the pain would last forever.  I cried for my dad, I cried for my family and I cried for myself…I missed her so much…and I still do.  However, the LORD showed me after the months went by that I live for HIM and that no matter who comes and goes in my life…no matter how painful or difficult the journey may get, I still press on…because I’m traveling to be with HIM.  He is right here beside me and He will never leave me or forsake me.  It’s a sweet feeling to know that He is always here.

I told Nate, yes, you could live without me, as long as you have The LORD, you can do anything. It might be hard but you would go on and serve HIM and love HIM with all your heart and you would be just fine.  See I don’t want to tell him that I will always be here because one day, if time goes on…I will have to die.  There’s no escaping death.  I want this little boy to know that as long as HE has JESUS that he can make it through anything!  I believe that is the best gift of love I can give to my son…JESUS!

I picked up a pen and The HOLY SPIRIT gave me a thought. This pen, a writing tool, I could find a way to write without it, charcoal on paper, a sharp tool in wood...I could write...but the pen, it makes it so much more efficient and easier for me to write. People in the world who have not accepted JESUS as LORD and Savior...they do not have The HOLY SPIRIT living inside their hearts, yes, they can go on about their day, working, being with their families...living...but oh how much more efficient Living is when we have The HOLY SPIRIT dwelling on the inside of us!

John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Holy Spirit is Someone who goes with us and helps us in times of trouble...Someone who gives us peace and reassures us that we are not alone and that we can do anything with HIM and make it through anything with HIM...I'm so thankful for my family...for my friends...and each one is so special and important to me in a unique way...but I understand and I want you all to understand that sometimes people leave, they die...and we are left without them, but as long as we have JESUS, HIS SWEET HOLY SPIRIT...we are never alone and we can make it...and HE will take us HOME to be with our FATHER one day...I don't think it will be long!

I'm so thankful for the indwelling Holy Spirit today...and if you do not have HIM yet...you can...all you have to do is believe on the only begotten Son of GOD...JESUS CHRIST and ask HIM to save you...and You can know this peace, this joy and this comfort that cannot be described with words. Don't stay blinded by satan...accept JESUS and our eyes will be opened and it will change your life. Praise GOD for HIS AMAZING GRACE!!!

Luke 19:10 "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."

HE LOVES YOU...OH HOW HE LOVES YOU!!!

Lesson 4 : This life is temporary…Forever is coming…quickly!

We tend to forget that we are not bodies with souls...we are souls enclosed in a body.  I made this statement this week on facebook, and a dear brother in Christ sent me a private message and said that I had it wrong that we do have bodies and we will have glorified bodies.  He is exactly right about having a body and later a glorified body and GOD’S Word tells us in 1 Corinthians that our bodies are a temple of The Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:19 “What?  Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of GOD, and ye are not your own?”

We do have  body of flesh and blood, taken from the ground and to the ground it will return. I explained to him that yes I understand that GOD gave us a body, but my point was that our bodies here are temporary.  We are souls and our souls are who we are and that will live on forever.  We can get it so mixed up, it's a trick from the evil one.  He wants to get us to focus on this body, to make it younger, more beautiful, to worry about feeding it and clothing it and trying to make it live forever and totally forgetting what is really important...our real selves, our souls. We have very healthy bodies on our planet earth and millions of souls suffering from neglect.  Souls begging, thirsting and hungering for The Creator going on ignored.   If we are not very carful and wise, we will search for things, people, wealth and all the things of this natural world that bring happiness for a little while but then leaves us more empty...ever searching, ever wanting and never satisfied.

We are spiritual souls having a human experience...waiting for eternity...where will you go when this experience is over? You can choose. Heaven or Hell...there is only two choices. The way to Heaven, is through JESUS CHRIST...HE came to seek and to save all who are lost and we are all lost until we believe and accept the only begotten Son of GOD.

We spend so much time worrying and fearing what pain or discomfort we may have to endure...and we forget that most times it's in the times of hard ship and trials that GOD increases our faith and helps us grow Spiritually. We try to dodge the very thing that will last forever...the treasures of eternity...the experience and the wisdom that only trials can teach us.

James 1:1-5 “James a servant of GOD and of The LORD JESUS CHRIST, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.  My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.  But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

We are souls with a human body having a human experience...this life is just a journey to our final destinations...to which destination are you going? JESUS CHRIST is the door to salvation...The way the truth and the life...seek HIM and you will find HIM.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of The LORD shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10)

Lesson 5:  Free Will of Choice

Do you know that every moment of your life, you make a choice?  You choose on which thoughts you will allow your mind to dwell, you choose what you will do, how you will react.  We make choices every second!  I was thinking about this and I'm so thankful that GOD gave us free will of choice...that's amazing! He didn't have to do that. Free will of choice means that we can choose to serve HIM! We can choose to have peace that surpasses all understanding in the middle of heartbreak! That means that when the devil is coming at us like roaring lion, we can choose to focus our eyes and our hearts on JESUS instead of the trouble! HE IS SO GOOD!

That means that no circumstance, no person can take away our joy and our peace...yes circumstances and others can hurt our feelings, make us cry...but it's ultimately our choice whether we let it steal our peace! We can't control our circumstances sometimes, and we can not control other's behavior...but WE CAN CONTROL HOW WE REACT! PRAISE THE LORD...that is POWERFUL!

My niece Tiffany, she is the wife of my nephew Jake who is battling Leukemia, she made a statement this week that if one doesn’t have peace, then they are doing the wrong thing!  That is so true.  When we are right with GOD and living in obedience and surrender to HIM, it doesn’t matter what circumstances are going on in our lives…we can still enjoy peace!  We can choose peace instead of turmoil by living in obedience to GOD.

Philippians 4:6-9 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to GOD; and the peace of GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in Me, these do, and The GOD of peace will be with you.”

Let us choose to focus on JESUS instead of our circumstances, and believe what HE says about us instead of what others may say...and know that THERE IS A GOD and HE IS OUR FATHER by the blood of HIS SON JESUS CHRIST... and HE is working all things out for good for those who love HIM and who are the called according to HIS purpose!

GOD'S Word says that we wrestle NOT against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities of darkness...that means...the person that you are angry at...or the person that is giving you a hard time...don't be aggressive to the person...love the person and understand it's just satan trying to cause discord....pray for the person...and tell The LORD on the devil...and go on your merry way...Praising The LORD!
