The Shepherds And The Angels

Opening Prayer :
Let us join in prayer for the new opportunity He has given us to learn from His Word about the birth of His own son , Jesus.

Memory Verse:  For unto you is born this day in the city of David
a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.    -- Luke 2:11

Suggested Bible Reading

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field,
 keeping watch  over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,
and the glory of the Lord shone round about them:
 and they were sore afraid.

10
 And the angel said unto them,
" Fear not: for, behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people

  For unto you is born this day
in the city of David a Saviour,

which is Christ the Lord."

 And this shall be a sign unto you;
Ye shall find the babe wrapped in
 swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
"

 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude
 of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14
"Glory to God in the highest,
 and on earth peace, good will toward men.
"

15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away
 from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another,

"Let us now go even unto Bethlehem,
 and see this thing which
 is come to pass,
which the Lord
 hath made known unto us.
"

 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph,
 and the babe lying in a manger.
Luke 2

Follow Up Bible Activity : It is time for our  Bible Skit .
Have the children act this passage out !
Some will take  the role of  Shepherds ,
 Have another be the Angel of the Lord ,
Others can be  the multitude of angels
 and finally we need a few for the
roles of   Mary , Joseph and the child Jesus .

The speaking parts are marked with quotes and  italics
in the above passage .

Hymntime:

O Come All Ye Faithful

http://www.hymntime.com/tch/htm/o/c/ocomeayf.htm

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;

Refrain

O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal,
Lo, He shuns not the Virgin’s womb;
Son of the Father, begotten, not created;

Refrain

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;

Refrain

See how the shepherds, summoned to His cradle,
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;
We too will thither bend our joyful footsteps;

Refrain

Lo! star led chieftains, Magi, Christ adoring,
Offer Him incense, gold, and myrrh;
We to the Christ Child bring our hearts’ oblations.

Refrain

Child, for us sinners poor and in the manger,
We would embrace Thee, with love and awe;
Who would not love Thee, loving us so dearly?

Refrain

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be all glory given;
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.

Refrain
