Let There Be

Opening Prayer:  May our gracious God open our eyes to see all the goodness He places in front of us and around us every day. May we see the gems of hope and goodness sparkle in the parts of The Bible we read today.

 Lesson Verse:

Genesis   1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Let There Be
Let there be light
Pure and bright
To shine on our
path, guiding us
Right.

Let there be faith
And let there be prayer
Found in every seeking heart --
learning of God's mercy and grace
Everywhere ...and in every place.

Let there be hope
And let there be song
In the hearts of
The old and young
For every moment
Until this mysterious
journey is done.

Let there be blessings and joy
In every sacred season
As we quietly discover
The ways and reason of
God’s plan for us through
Our Saviour, Lord Jesus.

Bible readings and focus:

1. Have you ever looked at nature around you?
    and were blessed by knowing God created it?

Read Genesis 1:1-5

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
And the evening and the morning were the first day

2.  How long do you think God has known you?

Read the following from Psalm 139:

14 I will give you praise, for I am strangely and delicately formed;
 your works are great wonders, and of this my soul is fully conscious.
 15 My frame was not unseen by you when I was made secretly,
 and strangely formed in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book all my days were recorded, even those which were purposed before they had come into being.
17 How dear are your thoughts to me, O God! how great is the number of them!

3. Have you ever sung a song? Did you know God sings too?

Zephaniah 3 : 17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

4. How about we all sing a song now?

Be a Ray of Sunshine

Be a ray of sunshine everywhere you go,
Shining for the Savior with a steady glow;
Bringing smiles to sad ones, wiping tears away,
Make yourself a blessing every passing day.

Refrain
Be a ray of sunshine everywhere you go,
Shining for the Savior with a steady glow;
Be a ray of sunshine filled with Heaven’s light,
Sending forth a message beautiful and bright.

Be a ray of sunshine everywhere you go;
Comfort bring to others, stoop to raise the low;
Kind words cost but little, smiles bring pleasures, too;
They may lift a burden; let them not be few.

Refrain

Put this lesson into practice:  How can you be a light or a ray of sunshine
for God as you are around others this week?
Take turns talking about it and then do it.
Shine your light for God and remember how much He loves you
with an everlasting love.      Close in Prayer.
